As part of the evaluation results of the Impact Financing Framework W5 – Single Projects Call, conducted by EIT Food, the world’s largest food innovation platform under the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), our University’s project titled “Waste2Green: Transforming Agri-Industrial Waste into Green Solutions through Microalgae Biotechnology”, led by Spain-based iDavinci Imagina S.L., has been awarded funding.

The large-scale international consortium project has a total budget of €1,084,739, with €108,587 allocated to our University for a duration of 18 months under the leadership of Dr. Lecturer Alper Devrim Özkan from our Faculty of Pharmacy.

Bahçeşehir University has undertaken responsibility for one of the project’s most critical stages: “Characterization of Algal Biomass as a Biostimulant and Biopesticide.” Within this scope, the potential of the produced microalgae to enhance agricultural productivity and combat plant diseases will be tested in our University laboratories.

We sincerely congratulate our esteemed faculty member for his work. Being part of this important project, which aims to reutilize agricultural and industrial waste through environmentally friendly biotechnological methods in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, is a great source of pride for our University.
