A SCIENTIFIC WINDOW FROM BAU CAMPUS TO SOCIETY: THE SCIENCE COMMUNICATION OFFICE HAS BEEN LAUNCHED

Bahçeşehir University has launched the “Science Communication Office” with the aim of making science visible and impactful not only within academic circles but across all segments of society. Officially inaugurated on July 1, 2025, the office marks a new milestone in the university’s vision for research and societal contribution.

Aimed at delivering scientific knowledge not just to experts but to the general public in an accessible and engaging manner, the Science Communication Office will operate through a multi-channel communication strategy—ranging from videos and podcasts to interactive digital series and public science storytelling involving diverse stakeholders. The office will also play a crucial role in enhancing public trust in scientific developments and linking science more closely with everyday life.

In her opening speech, BAU Rector Prof. Dr. Esra Hatipoğlu emphasized:

Our Science Communication Office is a strong testament to Bahçeşehir University’s commitment to building the future under the guidance of science. In this office, we will not only produce scientific content, but also carry out initiatives that strengthen public trust in science and reignite young generations’ interest in scientific inquiry. We believe that, in addition to conducting research, communicating science is also a responsibility. With this perspective, we are redefining science storytelling within an institutional framework at BAU and building a solid bridge between science and society.

The office will focus on simplifying, narrating, and effectively communicating the academic knowledge produced within the university. With the involvement of BAU academics and students, content will be developed to integrate scientific knowledge into daily life through video series, infographics, and hands-on experience workshops.

Moreover, the office aims to transform students into active contributors to this dynamic field by offering hands-on programs in science storytelling, science journalism, and visual science design. Through international collaborations, global best practices in science communication will also be brought under the BAU Campus umbrella.
