
Within the scope of the 2025 International Year of Cooperatives, the event titled “Cooperatives as the Key to a Green and Circular Future” was held on December 17, 2025, at Bahçeşehir University North Campus. The event was organized through the collaboration of the Science Communication Office and CIFAL Istanbul.
With contributions from artist and academician Fırat Neziroğlu and Esra Üzel, Chair of the Ekodoku Cooperative, the event addressed sustainable production and design processes from a multidimensional perspective. During the talk, comprehensive evaluations were made on ecological weaving practices, non-violent silk production, eco-ethical fashion approaches, and the transformative role of cooperatives in sustainable production.
The event, which provided participants with valuable insights into the environmental and social impacts of cooperatives, also addressed cooperative activities in Türkiye, social cooperative models, and green transformation in the textile sector. Sustainable approaches adopted in production and design processes were conveyed through current examples.
Bringing together the fields of academia, art, and cooperativism, the event emphasized the critical importance of collective production and solidarity-based economic models in building a green and circular future, offering participants an inspiring environment for discussion.
