platform for CT coronary angiography for clinical and industrial applications&#8221;!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Coronary\u00a0artery\u00a0disease (CAD) is a leading cause of cardiac mortality\u00a0in Singapore and worldwide, with 19% of deaths in Singapore due to CAD. Numbers of CAD cases are growing rapidly\u00a0due to ageing and higher prevalence of diabetes. Computed Tomography\u00a0Coronary\u00a0Angiography\u00a0(CTCA) is the first-line investigator for CAD. Current practice of CAD report generation requires 3-6 hours of a CT specialist\u2019s time for annotating the scans, and with inter-observer variability\u00a0of 20%. These problems have strongly\u00a0and severely\u00a0constrained the effectiveness of CTCA as a diagnostic and research tool. In this seminar, I will report on our platform enhanced by\u00a0AI technologies for simultaneous reporting of calcium scores, plaque quantification, stenosis and epicardial adipose tissues. It is a \u201cone-stop\u201d platform spanning from diagnosis to clinical, management and prognosis, and aids in predicting therapy\u00a0response in the pharmaceutical industries.<\/p>\n<p>Hwee Kuan Lee\u2019s current research work involves the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) research for clinical and biological applications. His laboratory\u00a0focuses on diverse research activities, including more basic AI centric research as well as AI applications. Clinical application areas include, diagnostics in cancers, spatial omics, cardiology, dermatology\u00a0and \u00a0interventional radiology. In the area of biology, Hwee Kuan\u2019s laboratory\u00a0works on the development of AI in protein science and drug discovery. Hwee Kuan\u2019s primary\u00a0appointment is as the Deputy\u00a0Director for Training and Talent development in the Bioinformatics Institute.
